Challenge yourself and do what is uncomfortable to reach your goal

September 7, 2015 by Johan

Challenge yourself and do what is uncomfortable to reach your goal

Many of us have different fears in our lifes

We keep putting things off that would benefit us greatly

Somethings are quite easy, and others harder

It doesn’t matter really if it’s easy or hard, we still put them off for something easy like watching the next tv show or playing video games. While thinking “I’ll just play for another fifteen minutes or reach that next area, then I’m going to work on my goal”. It sounds very reasonable thing to have fun for a bit, then go to work. But most of us keep adding another five or fifteen minutes after our time is up. Then we realize that we have used up our free time with leisure and that it’s time to sleep or have to leave for work, and missed our opportunity to grow and feel bad about it.

Hard rain

Begin to challenge yourself by working on your goal for one hour fully dedicated to your goal, every day

When you start to take action your life will transform and you will begin to feel awesome

You will gain more confidence and feel more at peace with yourself because you are moving forward with your life

The effort you put in to work on your goal after work, is something very few do

You are a part of a small group of people that work to better themselves and have a goal in your life

Others will see your progress and be amazed of your dedication while you think “this is just my daily routine” and nothing special, but it is

Keep your goal in your mind as often as you can during your day and keep working hard at it

Remember that you do this for yourself. Read about other people that have achieved similar goals as yours. Read for inspiration and see how they achieved their journey and remember to not compare yourself with them. Enjoy your journey and where you are in life right now. If you feel like you have a long way to go,

be thankful that you’ve found your goal now instead of going aimless in life wondering what to do.

When you begin to doubt yourself, don’t listen to your thoughts. Ask yourself “The thoughts I have now, is that something I would say to a friend?”, if not squash it immediately and replace it with a new positive thought of what you are doing to achieve your goal.

Everything starts with an idea, once you affirm it with action it becomes real

About fifteen years ago, I had an burning desire for a great body. Just like the guys in the porn movies and a girl to fuck. I was very out of shape and my eating habit was really bad. I had severe social anxiety and couldn’t stand being around others. If I just had that great body and a girl, my life would be great.

That was the first spark for my need to transform. I didn’t know how to achieve it, had no friends to guide me. But I really wished to have that body. Later by luck I meet a guy that was fit and we started meeting for walks. He even brought me to the gym a couple of times and I was eager to learn. But I wasn’t ready for the change yet. It took me several years before I actually began to regularly work out.

Remember to cut yourself some slack if you fail with your challenge the first couple of times. Just keep challenge yourself again and again. Often when you challenge yourself with a goal, you have so many more things you need to learn to even comprehend and reach your end goal.

Example if you want a great body. You need to exercise regularly, eat healthy most of the time, cut out soda and replace it with drinking more water, begin to cook your meals instead of microwave it, frozen dinners are out, be consistent with your workouts, be able to socialize to some degree, have the will to leave your safe routine of watching movies and playing games, gain knowledge how to make a gym routine, have proper form, and the list goes on.

A simple thing of beginning to exercise more, is many different small habits and knowledge of a variety of skills that maybe you have some of, and others know little of.

Thank yourself that you have begun to change and understand that you might have to learn all kinds of skills to achieve your goal. Be glad of this because it will make your life so much better, and you will develop many different skills that are useful for the rest of your life. By learning so many other things you start to develop a different mindset towards life. You begin to see things that you never noticed before.

To continue with my own personal development and fitness journey. Fifteen years ago I was very out of shape. But with my first idea to have a great body and not giving up, even thought It took me five years from that first thought to actually going regularly, and another two years to achieve it. There are so many things that I’ve learned and can now give all the help I’ve received over the years to anyone who wants it and ready to work on themselves.

Five years from that first thought to execution and I’m very happy that I didn’t wait longer

I know what it’s like to have irregular sleep. Being up late and one hour before work suddenly feel dead tired and just want to go bed. Eating and drinking unhealthy. Not feeling like going to work.

Every time you challenge yourself with something new, you know from experience of your last challenge how you accomplished it, what was hard, what motivated you to keep going, how much work it required and how awesome it was to accomplish your goal!

You learn to build your new habit faster, and know where you can cut down time. If it took you two years to start your habit, your new goal with now be much easier to start with the knowledge from your last challenge. Because you’ve already learned a ton of skills that you can leverage now and begin your new goal much faster. For example say that you want to learn to dance. With your habit of getting in shape, you can use your habits like: going regularly, you have better body coordination, know how to move your limbs better and position yourself, you are more social, you are more assertive, you have more confidence from your previous success overcoming so many challenges that helps you with your new skills you want to learn.

With each new skill you learn, you have an easier time learning it because you have a better sense of what you need to do and how you can accomplish it. You begin to see patterns and how you can apply your set of learning pattern to a guide you follow someone else made.

Challenge yourself to do something uncomfortable every day. Just one small thing. After that it gets easier to do another small thing, and another until you have done three things instead of being stuck thinking about that first and you will feel great.

Take responsibility of your life

Take responsibility of your life

Sunset

If you are dissatisfied with an area of your life, know that it doesn’t have to be this way.

Know that you are capable of change.

It’s rather simple once you’ve started.

All it takes to change, is simply to do what needs doing.

Once you’ve started with your task you start to enjoy it pretty quickly and glad to have begun it.

Just commit five minutes of your time doing this thing that you are procrastinating.

Your mood will improve greatly and you will want to continue working on your task once you’ve started it.

Commit one hour every day to improve your life.

Choose a single area of your life that you feel is lacking.

Ask yourself:

  • Where would you like to be?
  • Where are you now?
  • How are you going to achieve it?
  • Take action!

Set aside one hour every day. Maybe it doesn’t seem like much right now, and you are so far away from your “goal” that one hour seems futile. Give it time. Immerse yourself in the process of  self development and work on it every day and one day not far from now, you will look back and see how far you’ve come.

Once you’ve gone on a couple of days you will begin to feel proud of yourself and feel more joy that you are actively taking steps every day to improve your situation. You are taking responsibility for your life and saying “I want this, and I’m working to achieve this goal.” Remember to use this hour to work on your goal in a cheerful and relaxed state of mind. Know that every day brings you one step closer to your new reality and it feels great. You are excited to work on this goal and start to think on it more and more.

You begin to see new things you never noticed before. New opportunities that previously passed you by, but now you see them clearly. You become happier and people will notice.

You gain more confidence and take pride in your whole life. It creates a ripple effect of other areas of your life. Improve one area, and your other areas rises by your confidence and new skills you derive from your current goal.

My own personal experience is when I’m actively working on my self development like giving value to others, my confidence is greatly improved. And it affects my other areas of life immediately. I have more energy in the gym with better focus on my workout. I’m happier at work, more relaxed, and work more effectively. Girls are drawn to me and start conversations with me just looking at them.

Just 20 minutes ago I was thinking of whether I would set a goal of writing 500 words or write for one hour and decided for 500 words. I reached it in 15 minutes. That’s how easy it is once you commit to your goal.

Take responsibility of your life.

Choose one area you wish to improve.

Ask yourself why you want to improve.

Commit to a system with daily habit of working towards your goal one hour every day.

If you feel like working longer after the hour is up, go ahead.

Once started, you feel great working towards your goal.

That great feeling will create ripples in all areas of your life.

Enjoy that feeling and be here right now, live in this moment.

Victory is near, when you follow your habit every day.
